A Split-Second is an electronic music project formed in 1985 by Marc Heyndrickx, who initially operated under the name Marc Ickx, and Peter Bonne, also known as Chrismar Chayell. The duo began their journey with a self-released demo tape titled "Stained Impressions," which was produced by Bonne. Initially, Bonne was collaborating with vocalist Geert Coppens during this period. The band signed to Antler Records and made their debut in 1986 with an EP featuring the hit "Flesh." The following year, they released their album "Ballistic Statues," with Ickx and electronic musician Philip Vargod, known for his new-beat/acid-house project Lips Kiss, as the lineup. Bonne contributed as a producer and co-author of several songs, including "Flesh." After a brief tour, Vargod left the band and was replaced by Bonne, who became an official member. The new lineup released the single "Rigor Mortis" in 1987. In late 1988, A Split-Second signed with Wax Trax! Records in the US and released their self-titled album and "From The Inside," along with singles like "Mambo Witch," which reached #29 on the Billboard US dance club charts in 1989.
