Amparo Ochoa was a political folk singer born in 1946 in Sinaloa, Mexico. She is closely associated with the international Latin American Nueva Canción/Nueva Trova movement and the Mexican political folk label, for which she recorded most of her well-known albums during the 1970s and 1980s. Ochoa passed away from stomach cancer on February 8, 1994, in Mexico City.
