Milton Michael Rajonsky, known by his stage name Boots Brown, was the frontman of Boots Brown And His Blockbusters, a group that made rock-and-roll recordings for RCA. The music recorded by the group was initially intended for movies, but RCA later released them as singles, possibly to capitalize on the emerging 45-rpm format. At the time, playing rock-and-roll was not considered cool among jazz musicians, which led to the decision to use a pseudonym. The members of the group, including Shorty, chose not to have their real names on the records due to embarrassment about the genre.
