Craig Leon
Craig Leon was born and raised in Florida, USA. After opening his own recording studio in Miami, Florida, In 1973, he moved to New York to work at Sire Records. There he was responsible for the discovery and early development of the Ramones (who he produced),Talking Heads, and Blondie among other artists In the New York York scene. Over the years Leon has produced over 400 albums and singles including Blondie’s last worldwide no. 1 hit "Maria”.
In 1981, Leon released his first recorded work, "Nommos," which was released on John Fahey’s Takoma Records. He followed this with "Visiting," which was released in 1982 as the first volume of “The Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music.” Volume 2: The Canon followed in 2020, with Volume 3 to be released in 2025.
Since 1998, in addition to touring, he has concentrated on producing, orchestrating, and recording classical projects, including work with Luciano Pavarotti, Andreas Scholl, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Elysium, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, Joshua Bell and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and Sir James Galway.
Leon's work has also been featured in numerous UK and foreign television programs, as well as major films, including 1917, The Karate Kid, Ghost River, Ladies in Lavender, and many others.
