DJ Food
DJ Food is a producer, DJ, graphic designer, and writer living in London, UK.
Also known as Strictly Kev, he has been involved in the DJ Food project for three decades (once a multi-producer outfit alongside Coldcut and PC) and has been the sole keeper of the flame for over 20 years. As part of Coldcut’s Solid Steel radio show for 25 years, he’s mixed hundreds of hours of audio for radio and compilations using his decades of experience and vast record collection.
His DJ career has taken him worldwide, adding visuals to his sets, projecting in planetariums, and constructing analog audio-visual events. He will also showcase his latest finds across the musical spectrum. As a collector of all things psychedelic, he’ll also be digging back into his archive for counter-cultural curios and lost audio ephemera.
When not involved in music, he is also a graphic designer under the name Openmind. He originally designed many of the 90s and 00s sleeves for Ninja Tune and continues to work for several labels in the music field.
His first book, Wheels of Light, was published in 2022 and showcased the art of analog light show wheels. He continues writing and researching for a number of forthcoming books.
