DJ Vadim
Russian-born, London-raised DJ Vadim, also known as Daddy Vad, has established himself as one of the world's leading independent producers, showcasing his prowess on the global stage through performances and collaborations with both established and emerging talents.
He embarked on his musical journey in 1992 when he acquired a sampler, laying the foundation for his debut albums, "Abstract Hallucinating Gases" and "Headz Ain't Ready." In the same year, he signed with Ninja Tune, leading to the release of his debut LP, "USSR Repertoire."
Subsequently, he produced four more studio albums for Ninja Tune (along with a remix album), seven for BBE Records, three full studio albums on his own imprint (OGS and Jazz Fudge), and two for the French reggae label Soul Beats—amounting to a total of 17 albums by 2019. Notably, this count excludes EPs, singles, mixtapes, remixes, or his contributions to groups like 7n7c, which earned him a Latin Grammy nomination in 2002.
As the founder of Jazz Fudge Records in 1995, Vadim wears various hats, serving as an A&R, producer, record collector, award-winning radio presenter, writer, chef, and yogi. With over 300 performances in 78 countries, he has graced prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and Roskilde, accumulating awards and achieving chart-topping DJ mixes on platforms like Mixcloud.
Vadim's musical evolution, rooted in instrumental hip-hop, intricately blends reggae, dancehall, bass culture, Latin rap, and world sounds with a soulful touch.
