Edoardo Serena
Edoardo Serena is an Italian musician, selector, researcher, and impromptu DJ.
He was born just around the corner from the turn of the millennium, and he’s been deeply involved with sound since he was a child - first as a natural listener, then as a soon-to-be record nerd.
His penchant for music selection began as a matter of curiosity attached to his teenage music journalism aspirations. But after getting a spot as a resident on the Milan-based Radio Raheem, he fell in love with the idea of potentially sharing musical meaning with everyone. This mainly happened through Ballardian Dream Machine, a radio program that became his DJ alias and a vessel for conveying an abstract sonic transcription of the literature he researches: the bleak psychological architectures of J.G. Ballard, of course, but also William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin’s cutup explorations, William Blake’s Illuminated Paintings, and so on.
Apart from being a selector, Edoardo is a musician (part of alt/prog, post-punk bands Listrea and Liquid Words; touring bassman with punk rock singer-songwriter Gab De La Vega; part of industrial/experimental duo xylophène) and local promoter (co-founder of M1-M3 collective).
