Keb Darge
Many modern classics owe their success to Keb Darge‘s discoveries. In the early '90s, he birthed the Deep Funk scene, which soon became a worldwide sensation; in the early 2000s, he curated the ‘Lost and Found’ night, introducing unknown '50s R&B, Rockabilly & Surf to the general public - a night that has since then been copied worldwide.
As a DJ, Keb has been globe-trotting the world for 30+ years, rocking club stages from Shanghai & Tokyo to Dubai and Rio. His career as a label boss is just as remarkable: he’s released 29 compilations of rare 45s from the '50s, the '60s & seventies and collaborated with RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Kenny Dope (Masters at Work), DJ Shadow & more. In 2015, his Soho Radio show won the Mixcloud award for the best worldwide vintage music show.
Now settled back in the UK, Keb envisions a new musical masterplan. Evolving from his earlier styles, which he reckons have been over-copied, he boasts a freshly gathered collection of rare sixties garage punk, raucous rockabilly, and wild surf instrumentals. In 2017, he released a sixties garage compilation on BBE Music, including one lined up on Madlib’s own label.
