Kirk Degiorgio

Originally a member of the pioneering UK techno scene of the early nineties, London-born Kirk Degiorgio has over thirty years of experience as a producer and DJ, starting out as an Electro DJ in his adopted hometown of Ipswich, Suffolk. Degiorgio’s career includes releases for labels such as Planet E, R&S, Versatile, Freerange, Mo’Wax, De:Tuned, Far Out, Ubiquity and many more. Production projects include his acclaimed Beauty Room band with vocalist Jinadu, Brazilian fusion legends Azymuth, and collaborations with Tony Allen, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Jimpster, Carl Craig, and many more. His remix catalog now exceeds 100 releases - his most recent being the hit vocal reworking of Martin Buttrich’s ‘People Like Us.’ Papo Vasquez, Coldcut, Ben Sims, Innerzone Orchestra, and Juan Atkins are just some of the names receiving the Degiorgio remix treatment over the decades. Outside of the studio, Degiorgio is a masterful DJ - equally at home at super clubs Fabric and Berghain playing the latest modern techno - or at festivals such as We Out Here playing jazz, soul, and funk. His radio show Sound Obsession now boasts hundreds of episodes after starting life as part of the R-Solution team on Kiss FM and continuing for Red Bull Radio, Worldwide FM, and now ROVR. Now in his fourth decade as a DJ and producer, Degiorgio shows no signs of easing up. His trademark meticulous production sound—often a feature of Sonic Academy’s online tutorials—and complex harmonic approach will be heard on his forthcoming As One album for De:Tuned alongside his partner Catherine Prendergast and specialist projects for BBE and Neroli.
