Phil Mison
Phil Mison, aka Cantoma, is a DJ, producer, songwriter, and one of the most celebrated names on the Balearic dance/chillout scene.
Influenced by listening to legendary DJ José Padilla, Phil started his DJ career at London's Milk Bar in 1991, playing Balearic warm-up sets. A chance meeting there with José would lead to a two-year residency at Ibiza's legendary Cafe Del Mar in 1993/4, perfecting the art of soundtracking sunsets. It was his sets there that led him to play at Full Circle , Bugged out, Ministry Of Sound and become Leftfields tour DJ.
This vast knowledge of the chillout genre earned Phil the opportunity to put out his first compilation. Original Chillout, in 1995. Since then, he has released many more, including the Soundcolors series, Real Ibiza, and Originals for Claremont 56.
As an artist, he is widely known for producing music under the alias Cantoma, releasing his debut album for Music For Dreams in 2003. He now releases on his own Highwood Recording label and continues recording for Music For Dreams under the Ambala guise.
