Simon Raymonde
Simon Raymonde is a British musician, record producer, label owner, and one of the most influential figures in Britain’s thriving alternative scene.
He is most known as the bass guitarist and keyboard player with the legendary Scottish band Cocteau Twins. He joined the band in late 1983 and remained till they called it a day in 1997. He also contributed to the first two albums by the late '80s collective This Mortal Coil. Following a 20-year break from making music, Simon joined forces with Richard Thomas (former Dif Juz + Jesus and the Mary Chain member) to form Lost Horizons, who've recently released their second album, ‘In Quiet Moments.’
As co-founder and head of the Bella Union record label, he discovered and signed artists the likes of Beach House, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Lanterns, to name a few. He also brought acclaimed artists to the label, such as Flaming Lips, Spiritualized, Patti Smith & Ezra Furman. At his home in Brighton, he runs the label’s record shop, which he opened in 2017 with his wife Abbey.
