Souma
Souma Records is a Music label owned by Fred Kramer, a percussionist, producer, and DJ who was also the previous co-owner and founder of the Belgian Radio Martiko label.
The word 'Souma' is derived from the Arabic name Kulthum, which was the nickname of the famous Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum. She devoted her life to music and stood firm in a world of men. Souma symbolizes a significant era of Arabic music.
Established initially to re-release Umm Kulthum's timeless classics officially, Souma Records has expanded its horizons. Recently, they unveiled a captivating 2LP compilation featuring the rare soundtracks of Hany Mehanna, a celebrated keyboard player from Egypt's vibrant '70s scene. With an insatiable appetite for captivating music transcending time and borders, Souma Records, under the guidance of Fred Kramer, continues to thrive.
