100th Monkey is the stage name of Andy Guthrie, a co-producer known for his work with Banco de Gaia, Children of the Bong, Medicine Drum, and Matsuri Productions, among others. Some tracks feature studio engineer Rob Risso. The name "100th Monkey" is inspired by research conducted in the mid-1960s by four Japanese primatologists who studied the eating habits of monkeys on various Pacific islands. They discovered that a concept or skill learned by a few could rapidly spread to the entire species once a critical number was reached. This phenomenon was later termed the "hundredth monkey phenomenon" by Lyall Watson, emphasizing how a new skill or concept can influence evolution if enough individuals adopt it, suggesting that our thoughts and learning can impact the collective unconscious.
