10CC is a major pop/art rock band from the UK, founded in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, in the early 1970s. The original lineup included members who had previously been in the band Hotlegs, with Graham Gouldman being part of it only briefly. They formed 10CC in 1972 and signed with a record label after being turned down by another. Their music blends pop and art rock, often drawing on various genres, particularly evident in their debut album, which features influences from the '50s. The original lineup lasted four years and achieved worldwide success in 1975 with the hit ballad "I'm Not In Love." In 1976, members Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left to form a more avant-garde group, while Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman continued as 10CC. The first album by the new lineup, "Deceptive Bends," released in 1977, maintained the band's pop appeal. However, after their 1978 hit "Dreadlock Holiday" from the album "Bloody Tourists" and Stewart's personal crisis following a car accident, the band never regained their position in the major pop league. Note: Some releases may have 10CC listed as the artist, but this variation in capitalization is not considered an artist name variation (ANV).
