10LEC6 is a French dance post-punk band formed in 2003 in Paris, pronounced "dis-lec-six." The project is centered around street-artist Simon and DJ-producer Jess, who is part of the duo Jess & Crabbe. Initially driven by a need to create loud and hard music, 10LEC6 has gained a reputation as a compelling live act and on the dancefloors. The band has had a song featured in the TV series Skins and has toured with The Gossip. Their sound is influenced by the more danceable aspects of post-punk, as well as disco, house, and other electro-deviant styles. With a new formation, 10LEC6 emphasizes the unstructured (dyslexic) quality of their music. The band's singer, Nicole, has gospel roots and is capable of rapping and shouting in Bulu, a Bantou dialect from the South of Cameroon. Her contributions bring an Afro-punk quality that is energetic, tribal, modern, and highly danceable, blending various rhythms and bass with traditional sounds and vocal incantations.
