**2 Bad Mice Bio** Formed in 1991, 2 Bad Mice is a pioneering U.K. hardcore group known for their innovative incorporation of breakbeats into their music. The name of the group is inspired by Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of 2 Bad Mice." The lineup consists of Sean O'Keeffe, Simon Colebrooke, and producer Rob Playford, who is also the owner of Moving Shadow records. 2 Bad Mice played a significant role in the early-to-mid '90s hardcore scene and were instrumental in the genre's evolution into jungle and drum'n'bass. Their groundbreaking approach to sampling, particularly evident in the 1992 hit "Bombscare," laid the foundation for the characteristic manipulation of breaks that defines jungle music. As the hardcore scene declined, 2 Bad Mice largely ceased production work, with Playford focusing on Moving Shadow, a highly influential jungle label. In 1995, a best-of compilation of their music was released by the American label Sm:)e Communications. Today, Playford continues his production work, while O'Keeffe, Colebrooke, and Paul Rhodes perform as DJs worldwide under the name 2 Bad Mice.
