3:6 Philly was formed in 1987 and is known for their experimental hip hop style, emerging from Nottingham. Their debut release came in 1992 through Camden-based Zoom Records, featuring a lineup of Jase (Chris Fairman) on vocals, Gea (Gea Russell) on vocals and production, and DJ Delite (Ray Francis) on DJing and production. The trio gained recognition for sampling obscure jazz and rare ska records, with their first promo EP including tracks like 'Those Flags Offend Me' and 'Three Kryed Rape,' alongside alternative mixes and an instrumental dub track titled 'Kingston 12.' The underground buzz around 3:6 Philly grew following their official release of 'Those Flags Offend Me' 12", which received critical acclaim for its infectious jazz break and socially conscious lyrics. Their follow-up 12" 'Funky Alcohol' b/w 'The World Still Turns' was also celebrated by prominent DJs and the press. Notably, 3:6 Philly was known for their outstanding live performances, sometimes accompanied by a full backing band, which was uncommon in the UK hip hop scene at the time. They played at significant venues, including the opening night of 'The Alley' in Covent Garden, London, hosted by Jerry Dammers and Dermot Smyth, becoming a key act in the cutting-edge hip hop scene of 1992 and 1993. Throughout their career, 3:6 Philly toured the UK
