**Bio:** Black Brothers was a prominent West Papuan pop group from Jayapura, consisting of five members and led by Andy Ayamiseba. Their music, which featured influences from reggae and political themes inspired by the Black Power movement, was performed in Indonesian and Tok Pisin. In 1979, the group went into voluntary exile in Vanuatu to protest Indonesian policies in West Papua, later relocating to Papua New Guinea. During the 1980s, Black Brothers became the most popular musical group in New Guinea, and their reggae influences significantly impacted various other musical groups in Papua New Guinea. It is worth noting that there was another group named 'Black Brothers' in New Caledonia, linked to the Kanak independence movement.
