5 Gentlemen is a French freakbeat and mod band that originated in Marseille, initially known as Les Ambitieux. They released their first single, "Danse Danse, Encore," under this name on Columbia in 1965. In 1966, they rebranded as Les 5 Gentlemen and also performed under the name Darwin's Theory for the English and German markets. Between 1966 and 1968, they released five EPs for Riviera. The band consisted of Jean Fredenucci (Vocals, Bass), François Paoli (Guitar), Claude Olmos (Guitar), Guy Matteoni (Organ, Piano, Vocals), and Michel Donat (Drums).
