9dw is a solo project by Japanese artist and producer K. Saito, first showcased in March 2009 at the SXSW MUSIC convention in Austin, Texas. He released a self-titled album on WAX POETICS RECORDS, a label associated with NYC-based WAX POETICS magazine. The album features a mix of electric fusion and boogie, showcasing high production values that garnered Saito both fans and critical acclaim globally, including recognition from prominent figures in the music industry. In 2010, Saito continued to enhance his reputation as a producer and remixer in Japan and worldwide, blending hip-hop, disco, and house styles through his CATUNE/9dw label. He contributed to the RMX album project in collaboration with Tokyo-based DJ CHIDA’s ENE RECORDS, involving a diverse array of DJs, bands, and producers. The energetic party music and dance vibe of this record led to the development of a new live show, focusing on an analog synth sound, which he performed at numerous dance music events.
