9th Wonder, originally making hip-hop beats from his dorm room at North Carolina Central University using FL Studio, has become an acclaimed producer in the hip-hop music industry. He gained recognition with his remix album of Nas's 2002 album "God's Son," titled "God's Stepson," which initiated a trend of remixing entire albums. Known for his smooth and soulful production style, 9th Wonder often samples from various artists and attributes his bass lines to influential musicians. He claims to have learned "moans" from notable sources as well. With the assistance of filmmaker Tee Smith and sound engineer Young Guru, he secured a coveted production credit on Jay-Z's highly-anticipated "The Black Album." He has continued to produce for various hip-hop artists, including Little Brother, Destiny's Child, and others, as well as more widely recognized artists such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Recently, 9th Wonder, along with Christopher "Play" Martin from the hip-hop group Kid 'n Play, was appointed Artist-In-Residence by the Chancellor of North Carolina Central University, where they instruct a hip-hop history class in the Music Department. He remains committed to his community in Durham, NC, by joining P'Tones Records, which provides students the opportunity to learn about the music industry and earn scholarships to NCCU. He has completed work on his second solo album, "The Dream Merchant Vol. 2," released on October 9th, 2007. 9th
