Magazine was an English post-punk band from Manchester, originally active from 1977 to 1981. The band was formed by Howard Devoto and another member after Devoto left Buzzcocks in early 1977. Seeking to create a more progressive and less traditional rock band, Magazine recorded three albums before guitarist John McGeoch left to join Siouxsie and the Banshees. The band released one more album after McGeoch's departure, but Devoto quit in 1981. Magazine reunited from 2009 to 2011, during which they released one more album. McGeoch was not part of the reunion, as he had passed away in 2004 at the age of 48.
