Abdelkader Chaou (Arabic: عبد القادر شاعو) is an Algerian singer known for his interpretation of Chaâbi music. He was born on November 10, 1941, in the Casbah of Algiers, Algeria, to a Kabyle family originally from Azzefoun, Tizi-Ouzou. In 1967, he enrolled at the Algiers conservatory, where he studied under the master El Hadj M'hamed El Anka, learning the intricacies of the Chaâbi repertoire. By 1969, he returned to the Algerian National Theater (TNA) as a student of Mahboub Bati. Chaou gained significant recognition in the 1970s, with his first professional recordings including the songs "Ghazali Goudami" and "Lilah Wan Cheftou Koudami."
