Abe Schwartz was born in 1881 in Romania, outside of Bucharest, and passed away in 1963 in the USA. He was an early 20th-century klezmer composer, pianist, violin player, and bandleader. Schwartz emigrated to New York around the turn of the century and, between 1917 and 1938, he made numerous recordings as a bandleader of Jewish, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Romanian, and Polish music. Among his works were six klezmer violin solos recorded with his daughter.
