Above the Law is a rap group hailing from Pomona, California, USA. They were signed in 1989 with the help of a notable figure in the industry. Their debut album was recognized as one of The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums, and they gained significant attention with their breakthrough single "Murder Rap." The tracks "4 The Funk Of It" and "Call It What U Want" positioned them as the "true founders" of G-Funk. Following their second album, a member left the group. Their third and final album on Ruthless Records is celebrated as one of the best G-Funk albums ever released. After the death of Eazy-E, the group transitioned to another label and produced two albums in 1996 and 1998. In 1999, they departed from Tommy Boy to become independent, launching their own record label and releasing one group album. They also briefly signed with Suge Knight's Tha Row Records. In 2004, a member known as Cold 187um was indicted for conspiracy to traffic a significant amount of marijuana, which led to a period of silence for the group. After Cold 187um's departure in 2008, he released his third solo album, presented by Above the Law. The long-awaited seventh group album, "Sex, Money And Music," was released in 2009, although its singles had been released years earlier.
