Abraham van den Kerckhoven was a Flemish organist and composer, born around 1618. He served as the organist at Saint Catherine's Church in Brussels from approximately 1632 until his death in late December 1701. In 1647, he succeeded Johann Caspar Kerll as court organist for Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria, a position he held until at least 1684. His surviving works are primarily found in the Cocquiel manuscript, compiled in 1741 by Jacobus Ignatius Josephus Cocquiel, which is preserved in Brussels and contains numerous liturgical pieces, fantasias, fugues, and preludes. Van den Kerckhoven's compositions exhibit influences from contemporaries such as Peeter Cornet and Johann Jakob Froberger, blending Italian, French, and North German stylistic elements.
