Add N to (X) is a music project that originated as a duo called Radix Couplement, founded in London in 1994 by Andrew Aveling and an unnamed partner, later joined by Aveling's partner Ann Shenton and subsequently Barry Smith. After a short period performing as a quartet, Anderson left the band, and the remaining trio continued under the name Add N to (X). The group's debut album, Vero Electronics, was released in 1996, and they soon added brackets to the X in their name. Aveling was later replaced by Steven Claydon. Add N to (X) recorded four more studio albums between 1998 and 2002, with Rob Allum (drums) and Dean Honer (engineer, producer, arranger) being regular collaborators. The formation disbanded in 2003.
