ADULT. is a Detroit-based duo consisting of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller. They performed their first live show together in Germany in 1997 under a different name and released their first 12" in early '98. Later that year, they adopted the name ADULT. Since then, they have released five albums and 19 EPs or singles through various labels, including their own label, which has over 40 releases since 1995. They have also remixed more than 20 acts, including notable names in the industry. In addition to their music, Kuperus and Miller create sculptures, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos, and installations, aiming to blur the lines between art and audio. Their work has been exhibited at several prestigious institutions, including the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York, Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, Detroit Institute of Arts, MOMAS in Saitama, Japan, and Centre d'art contemporain de Meymac in France. Their film, The Three Grace(s) triptych, has been showcased at venues such as Anthology Film Archives in New York, Distrital Film Festival in Mexico City, and Grey Area for Art and Technology in San Francisco.
