ADULT. is a Detroit-based duo consisting of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller, who first performed together in Germany in 1997. They released their first 12" under a different name in early 1998, followed by their first release as ADULT. later that year. To date, they have put out five albums and 19 EPs or singles through various labels, including their own, which has seen over 40 releases since 1995. They have also remixed over 20 acts, including notable names such as Moog Music. Prior to forming ADULT., Miller was part of another band. In addition to their music, Kuperus and Miller create sculptures, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos, and installations, aiming to blur the lines between art and audio. Their work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions, including the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York, Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, Detroit Institute of Arts, MOMAS in Saitama, Japan, and Centre d'art contemporain de Meymac in France. Their film, The Three Grace(s) triptych, has been showcased at venues such as Anthology Film Archives in New York, Distrital Film Festival in Mexico City, and Grey Area for Art and Technology in San Francisco.
