Afrirampo is an "ultra lunatic" duo from Osaka, Japan, consisting of Oni (guitar, vocals) and Pika (drums, vocals). The band was formed in May 2002 during a jam session in Osaka's castle park. They quickly gained local popularity and, in the summer of 2004, lived with the Pigmies of Cameroon. Afrirampo has toured extensively in the USA, Europe, and Turkey, sharing the stage with notable acts such as Sonic Youth, Masonna, Jojo Hiroshige, and Acid Mothers Temple. Their lyrics often feature simple mantras or are completely onomatopoeic. On stage, the duo typically performs in red costumes. Afrirampo disbanded on June 26, 2010, but reunited in 2016.
