Afrosound was a Colombian musical group formed as a response to the Chicha movement that emerged in Peru during the early 1970s. José María Fuentes, recognizing the growing popularity of this hybrid cumbia sound, created a super group under the Discos Fuentes label. Produced by Julio Estrada (Fruko El Bueno), Afrosound blended Andean guitar sounds with elements of funk, salsa/son, tropical, disco, and Afro-Colombian rhythms, resulting in vibrant cumbia party albums that deliver an energetic listening experience from start to finish.
