The Aga Khan Master Musicians is a collective of renowned artists who draw inspiration from their rich cultural roots across the Middle East, Mediterranean Basin, South Asia, Central Asia, and China. Formed under the Aga Khan Music Programme, their mission is to explore how musical innovation can help revitalize cultural heritage. Each member is a distinguished performer and composer-arranger, celebrated on prestigious global stages while also serving as influential teachers and mentors. They have mastered rigorous musical traditions, characterized by canonical styles, repertoires, pedagogy, and performance techniques. United by the belief that tradition can guide artistic exploration, they create a unique body of work that blends inspiration from the past with contemporary creativity. The ensemble includes Feras Charestan (qanun), Wu Man (pipa), Jasser Haj Youssef (violin, viola d’amore), Sirojiddin Juraev (dutar, tanbur, sato), Basel Rajoub (duclar, saxophone), and Abbos Kosimov (doira, qayroq, lapchang).
