Agitpop was an art punk band hailing from Poughkeepsie, New York, formed in 1981. The band gained prominence by touring widely starting in 1983 and released four records through the Comm3, Twintone, and Rough Trade labels. Its members included Mark LaFalce, John deVries, and Rick Crescini. Agitpop was part of a pioneering movement within the underground music community, recognized for their distinctive song styles, instrumentation, and lyrical content within the rock genre. Their performances attracted notable figures from the New York arts scene, including the Pop Art era photographer Billy Name.
