Ahmed Wahbi, born Ahmed Driche Tidjani on November 15, 1921, in Marseille, was an influential Algerian singer who passed away on October 28, 1993, in Algiers. He is recognized as one of the founders of the musical genre El Asri, which emerged in Oran during the 1940s. This new genre was shaped by the influences of renowned Arab music masters such as Mohamed Abdelwahab and Farid El Atrache, incorporating Oriental styles alongside the rhythms and poetic language characteristic of Oran.
