Ai/mB is a collaborative project between Welsh electronic artist Min-Y-Llan (Martin Boulton) and Swedish producer Anders Ilar. This duo creates a space for slow-burning experimentation, emotional depth, and textural exploration. Their name embodies a shared fascination with ambiguity, duality, and the blurred lines between the organic and the synthetic. Focusing on ambient, downtempo, and left-field electronica, Ai/mB prioritizes atmosphere over genre, blending analogue warmth with digital detail and a sense of quiet narrative. Their music is characterized by introspective soundscapes, melodic fragments, and evolving rhythmic structures that invite deep listening. The project’s debut album, The Oracle Tree, resulted from a year-long creative exchange between Wales and Sweden. It was crafted from traded stems, reworked sketches, and intuitive improvisation, reflecting the duo’s shared instinct for mood, restraint, and emotional resonance. Ai/mB’s sound aligns with the contemplative aspects of IDM and ambient electronica while maintaining a distinct identity shaped by both artists’ individual practices.
