Aisha is a Roots Reggae singer born in October 1962 in Wolverhampton, England, to Jamaican parents. She began her music career at the young age of eight on her father's Soundsystem. Initially a backing vocalist with the band Capital Letters, Aisha went solo and released her debut album, High Priestess, in 1988, produced by Mad Professor. Her second album, Daughters of Zion, was released in 1993, and she collaborated with Norman Grant of The Twinkle Brothers on two additional albums. Aisha has also been featured on the Roots Daughters series of albums alongside artists such as Kofi, Fabian, and Sandra Cross. She performed in Jamaica for the first time in 2000 at the Augustus Pablo Benefit concert and took part in the 2003 Meltdown festival at London’s Royal Festival Hall, where she was described by the Telegraph as “the closest we have to a female Bob Marley.” Since 2006, Aisha has toured internationally with Mad Professor’s Ariwa Posse.
