Aja Monet is an American contemporary surrealist blues poet, writer, lyricist, and educator from Brooklyn, New York. Born on August 21, 1987, in North Carolina, she became the youngest individual to win the Grand Slam title in 2007 at the age of 19. Aja has also lived in Little Haiti, Miami, Florida, where she established the Smoke Signals studio in 2016.
