Aki Takase (高瀬 アキ) is a renowned Japanese jazz pianist and composer, born on January 26, 1948, in Osaka. Raised in Tokyo, she began her piano lessons at the age of three and later studied at Toho Gakuen Music University. Influenced by the works of Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, and Charles Mingus, Takase developed a passion for improvisation and has been performing professionally since 1971. By the age of 25, she was already leading her own groups. She is married.
