Akira Ishikawa was a Japanese jazz drummer and session drummer, born in Kanagawa Yokosuka on November 10, 1934. He began his musical career as a drummer with Shin Matsumoto and New Pacific. Following this debut, he performed with various bands, including Akira Miyazawa Modern Allstars, Toshio Hosaka, and Emanaries. Ishikawa later became a drummer for Toshiyuki Miyama and New Hard. He also joined Count Four and formed a band called Akira Ishikawa And The Gentures, which translates to "local people gathering." This group served as the foundation for Akira Ishikawa & Count Buffaloes. He passed away on February 10, 2002.
