Akira Yamaoka, born in 1968 in Niigata, Japan, is a renowned musician and video game composer. He has scored numerous titles for Konami, including games from the Bemani series such as Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania IIDX, as well as popular franchises like Contra, Castlevania, and Winning Eleven. Yamaoka is best known for his work as the producer and composer for the Silent Hill series, where he created the majority of the music. In January 2006, he released his first original album. Currently, he serves as the sound director at Konami.
