Aksak Maboul is a band that was formed in 1977 by the founder of Crammed Discs and his musical partner. The band's aesthetics involve deconstructing and fusing various genres, including rock, jazz, electronics, fake African, Balkan, and minimal music. This approach can be seen as a blueprint for much of the music released by Crammed Discs over the following two decades. In the 21st century, the band re-assembled around Marc Hollander, who is now a prominent member, alongside Marc and Véronique's daughter Faustine, Lucien Fraipont, and Erik Heestermans. The current lineup can be viewed as a blend of the original and contemporary influences.
