Aktuala was a significant innovative force in Italian new music during the 1970s. This seminal group included musicians who remained active in various projects for decades. Similar to the Third Ear Band, Embryo, and Between, Aktuala fused ancient and ethnic music—drawing from Eastern and African cultures—with rock and avant-garde styles. This pioneering approach created a new form of music that transcended anything previously heard.
