Al Belletto (1928–2014) was an American jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, and bandleader known for his vibrant contributions to the New Orleans jazz scene. A graduate of Loyola University, he led the Al Belletto Sextet, a group that gained national attention in the 1950s for its sophisticated arrangements and swinging, West Coast–influenced sound. Belletto’s ensemble toured with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and appeared at major jazz festivals, showcasing his refined musicianship and commitment to advancing contemporary jazz while celebrating its New Orleans roots.
