Al Campbell was born on August 31, 1954, in Three Miles, Kingston, Jamaica. He began his career around 1967 and recorded his first song in 1968. As part of the first generation of dancehall artists, he made a significant impact in the genre. It is important to note that he is not the owner of Allan Campbell's label, a producer based in Greenwich Farm, and should not be confused with the performer of Studio 1 songs "Take A Ride" and "Expensive Love," which are credited to Al Campbell.
