Al Green is a renowned soul and gospel singer and songwriter, born on April 13, 1946, in Forrest City, Arkansas, USA. He began his career under the name Al Greene but has been known as Al Green since the late 1960s. In addition to his music career, he has served as a pastor at Memphis' Full Gospel Tabernacle since 1976. Al Green was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004. He wrote the song "Take Me To The River" in memory of his cousin.
