Al Johnson was an American R&B and soul singer, producer, songwriter, and arranger, born on February 11, 1948, in Newport News, Virginia. He was also a session keyboardist and part of a production team. Johnson attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he co-founded the soul group the Unifics. He passed away on October 26, 2013, in Washington, D.C., at the age of 65. He is often associated with a publisher. Please do not confuse him with other songwriters, soul singers from Louisiana and Alabama, or an engineer.
