Al Newman was born on March 17, 1900, in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, and passed away on February 17, 1970. He served as the Head of 20th Century Fox Music and was a noted composer. Newman collected nine Oscars for the soundtracks he wrote, the majority of which were for 20th Century Fox films. He is also recognized for composing the iconic 20th Century Fox fanfare, played at the beginning of the studio's movies. His final score was for the film "Airport" in 1969.
