Alan "Blind Owl" Christie Wilson was a founding member, occasional lead vocalist, and primary composer of the American blues band Canned Heat. He played guitar and harmonica and was responsible for writing most of the band's songs. Born on July 4, 1943, in Arlington, Massachusetts, Wilson's life was tragically cut short when he died from a barbiturate overdose on September 3, 1970, in Topanga, California, at the age of 27.
