Alabama 3 is a British band formed in 1995 in Brixton, London, known for their unique blend of rock, electronic, blues, country, gospel, and spoken word styles. The band's name references a historical case from the American deep south in the 1930s, where two black men were wrongfully executed for allegedly raping a white woman, becoming known as the Alabama 2. The group's origins trace back to a meeting between the son of a Welsh Mormon preacher and the descendant of a Glaswegian trades unionist at an underground acid house party, leading to a fusion of Hank Williams, gospel, and acid house music. Since their expansion in the mid '90s, Alabama 3 has established itself as a provocative and inspirational collective. In the United States, they are known as A3 due to legal action.
