Alabama Red, also known as Ray Curtis, was a Chicago blues and gospel vocalist and guitarist born in 1927 in Panola, Alabama. He learned to sing and play guitar and piano in church. In the 1940s, he moved to Chicago, where he continued to develop his musical career. Alabama Red passed away in 2006 in Chicago, Illinois.
